Bahrainis mark four months of protests

Bahraini protesters have taken to the streets of the Persian Gulf kingdom to mark the completion of four months of the popular revolution against the Al Khalifa regime.

On Wednesday, the demonstrators repeated their calls for the abolition of the absolute monarchy system that has ruled the country for over 40 years.

Last March, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates deployed police and military forces to the tiny kingdom upon Manama's request to help crush the protest rallies, which started in mid-February.
Scores of people have been killed and many others have been arrested in the Saudi-backed suppression.
